Ukiyo-e were highly popular among the general public and contributed to the development of Edo culture because they depicted things such as the popular culture of the time, daily life, customs, and landscapes, and they also express rich hues and depth, delicate fine lines, and shades of colors thanks to the precise carving of different woodblocks for each color and the layering of colors. In order to properly convey this artistic, cultural, and historical significance to visitors to Japan, these sessions will provide the detailed explanation with ukiyo-e that have been digitally enlarged. Visitors will then experience suri woodblock printing, which is one of the three processes involved in ukiyo-e production (carried out by painters, engravers, and printers), using postcard-sized printing blocks.
